Homemade Enchilada Sauce
Homemade enchilada sauce, is very easy and often skipped over. I have seen a can of enchilada sauce over $5.00? Let me show you how easy this is.
What will you need?
16 oz Can of Tomato Sauce
Better than Beef Bullion and 1 cup of water water or a 16 oz can of Beef Broth
Salt + Pepper
Start with a tsp of oil in a small sauce pan on medium high heat.
Add 2 tsps. of flour, stir together until the flour is mixed together. (and you are no longer see white flour)
Add a cup of your beef broth (either option mentioned above is fine) and your can of tomato sauce.
Add two tsps. of the following spices: Salt, Pepper, Cumin, Paprika, Chili and Garlic Powder.
Leave on medium heat for about 5 to 6 minutes, and comes to a slow boil. (Be careful to stir every few minutes, to ensure sauce does not burn)
This would be a good time to start making the meat for your enchiladas.
Stir the sauce and continue to cook for another 5 minutes while it continues to boil and thickens.
Once the sauce has thicken and reduced about 1/4, your sauce is complete.
Remove from heat and allow to cool until you are ready to use.
While the sauce cools, it will continue to reduce.
This sauce freezes well, and can be made ahead of time.
